Daisy Fuentes tweeted this image of Marilyn Monroe yesterday and it inspired me to write this piece.  The worlds most famous sex symbol has been dead for almost fifty years. Marilyn Monroe continues to influence fashion from the Marilyn Monroe piercing, Marilyn Monroe Hairstyle, Marilyn Monroe Make-up to Marilyn Monroe dresses.

Marilyn Monroe is the perfect example of a woman that examined her body and dressed to accentuate her best features. She single handily created her iconic look-platinum blond hair, red inviting lips and killer dresses. Like many women , Marilyn Monroe dressed for men.  The purpose of her outfits were to show off her body which she knew was the key to her success.

Looking at Marilyn Monroe pictures there are few with her wearing loud colored dresses. She preferred classic muted hues but her favorite was white. What I personally loved about her style was the simplicity. Her jewelry was always kept classic, timeless and elegant. She did not like to wear colored gems and always wore diamonds, she wanted her face to be the focus.

As a sex symbol she understood the fine line line between being sexy and looking vulgar. Yes your clothes should be fitted to your body but always keep in mind you're a lady.
